Urban Villa of Moisei Kligman

Moisei Kligman1898

Описание

Architectural monument of national significance, officially recorded in the Register of Monuments of History and Culture by the municipality of Chisinau, following the initiative of the Academy of Sciences. In the mid-19th century, Major-General’s wife Maria Markiva constructed a single-story house at the intersection of Sfatul Țării Street, adhering to the prevalent architectural trends of that time. In 1896, the property changed hands and was acquired by the merchant Moisei Kligman. He proceeded to demolish the existing structures on the street corner and, in 1898, erected an architectural masterpiece in their place. Subsequently, in the post-war era, the building was connected to the neighboring Herta house by a gallery. This structure stands out as one of the rare examples of neoclassical architecture that have endured in the town till the present day. Regrettably, it is currently in a state of neglect and disrepair.
