State Polyclinic - Chisinau

The State Polyclinic on strada 31 August 1989 occupies a curved multi-storey block whose facade is distinctive in central Chișinău - separate from the Soviet brutalist, modernist, or neoclassical buildings frequently found. Tall white rendered piers alternating with deep arched bays clad in terracotta tile, the composition following the arc of the plot. The institution was established in 1944 as the Curative-Sanitary Directorate of the Moldavian SSR, providing medical care for government officials. After decades on other sites, it relocated to this address in 1990, with the building itself reflecting the architectural ambitions of the final Soviet decade.
