House of Culture - Rașcov

Неизвестно1960s-1980s

Описание

This House of Culture is in the Stalinist Empire idiom, rendered in pale yellow with a paired-column portico and triangular pediment. A large Lenin statue stands in front of the building on a concrete plinth. Recently renovated with funds from Poland and the European Union according to staff working in the library. Inside, elements of the original Soviet decorative interior remain, including three panels, metal balustrades, and the tiling on both the floor and ceiling. Three wooden double doors and a patterned stone floor below complete what was clearly designed as a principal communal hall. The large entry hall with a balcony running through only part of the hall is a refreshingly modernist take to the neoclassical exterior; the two men playing pool in one of the adjacent rooms, and the staff working in the small library filed with books on the Second World War show the building retains its sense of original purpose.
