House of Culture - Mocra
Неизвестно — 1977
Описание
The largest structure in the centre of Mocra, a town that used to house a large Soviet kolkhoz or collective farm. A long two-storey block, banded horizontally, with a continuous run of tall windows divided by red-painted pilaster strips along the front. A gilded frieze of stylised foliage runs beneath the cornice on all elevations. The whole of the windowless end wall (this section of the House of Culture houses the theatre stage) is given over to the 1977 mosaic “The Awakening”, with a smaller companion panel set beside the side entrance. It was built for an audience of around 300. The village has since shrunk and the programme with it: the Maslenitsa celebration in 2026 drew perhaps a dozen teenagers. Still in use, parts of the second floor are deteriorating as the roof is leaking and in need of structural repairs that the community cannot easily afford.
