Stele - Kolkhoz "Grigorii I. Kotovsky" - Rașcov

In 1959, Podoima and the neighboring village of Podoimitsa merged to form a single collective farm named after G. I. Kotovsky, which later became the district’s largest “millionaire” farm. The collective farm specialized in vegetable cultivation (60% of its output), and the villagers were also actively engaged in gardening on their personal plots. As a result, the village was jokingly nicknamed the “tomato capital” of the district. The collective farmers also cultivated fruit, tobacco, and melons, and raised pigs and cattle. The collective farm’s fresh vegetable produce was shipped to other republics of the USSR and partially processed at the Kamensk Canning Plant (Camenca Cannery). A large vegetable storage facility was built. Gravel and rubble were extracted in the vicinity of the village. In the 1970s and 1980s, the collective farm reached the height of its prosperity. A production complex, a secondary school, a House of Culture, libraries, a paramedic and midwifery station, a daycare center, a community center, a post office, a restaurant, a café, and shops were opened in the village, and a folk dance ensemble was formed. Following the USSR’s collapse, several small, specialized collective agricultural enterprises, based on land lease arrangements, established on the site of the former large collective farm.
