Housing Complex "143 series" - Chisinau

A large-panel prefabricated residential complex on Bulevardul Dacia, designed by A. Gordeyev, A. Kireyev, A. Kolotovkin and S. Shoikhet with engineer P. Shibko, completed in 1970. The ensemble steps up to a central tower of around sixteen storeys, its flanking wings dropping to ten, with the facade articulated by a dense pattern of decorative precast concrete grilles and textured panel infill: an unusually ornate treatment for mass housing that elevates the 143 series typology above its functional baseline. The roofline of the central tower is capped by a square terracotta-coloured frame carrying a telecommunications mast, giving the composition an unexpected vertical accent visible along the full length of the boulevard. Series 143 apartments remain popular on the Chișinău property market due to their functional layouts, spacious rooms, and solid construction quality (thick panel walls, large balconies, and seismic resistance).
