Bus Stop - Hristovaia
Necunoscut — 1980s?
Descriere
This constructivist gem was an unexpected encounter, situated in the center of a town straddling the Ukrainian border. Two cantilevered concrete canopies face each other across a footpath, joined by a sharp triangular arch that frames the route between them. The undersides curl up at the road edge in a single sweeping fold. The arch, an upside down V, allows you to perfectly capture the baby pink church perched behind it on the hill - though Christopher Herwig refused to shoot that angle, arguing it would forced the perspective. The sloping right wall features a hole through which to spot the coming bus. The opposite side is open, providing a view over the centre of town and valley further down.
